Welcome to WSG Golf 2026
Good morning! We are LIVE from Scotland as we return for the third installment of The World Schools Golf Championship.
And we are back better than ever before, with 85 golfers from 23 schools representing 17 nationalities taking part in this year's event which runs from Monday 14th to Wednesday 16th September. First though, let's take a quick look back at the last few days...

We are delighted this year to welcome schools from brand new countries, including Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School from the Florida in the United States of America. In fact, they become our first ever US representatives across our entire event series! Here they are as they set off on the long journey over to Scotland on Thursday...

We're also to welcome a number of other new schools, including St John's International School from Belgium and Cayman International School from the Cayman Islands.
Last night, we welcomed the vast majority of our golfers to Scotland with a special Opening Ceremony at the Apex Hotel in Dundee! Players had the opportunity to take part in a number of different challenges, get their individual and team photos taken, and conduct their customary pre-event media interviews. Make sure to check out our Instagram to see those...

It's down to the real thing today, though, as we begin WSG Golf 2026 at Ladybank Golf Club in Fife. Our golfers have just in the last few moments teed off on their relevant holes as our shotgun start gets underway.
As we'll remind you a few times over the course of the week, you can watch our World Schools Golf Championship 2026 live stream via the WSG YouTube Channel! Today we have cameras on the first tee as well as covering the entirety of the 8th Hole alongside our resident WSG Golf commentator, Ian Waterhouse, who will be catching players for interviews as they pass through the hole. Also out and about on the course is our resident roving reporter, Adam Binnie - make sure you call him over for an interview if you see him...

It's not long now before our first groups start making their way back to the clubhouse for lunch having finished their round, with the 2026 Championship now well and truly into the swing of things (get it...?). The weather has held up very well so far - top marks, Scotland!

After lunch, all our schools will be hopping back on the coach and heading for an afternoon in St Andrews! Dropping off initially at the Old Course, there'll be ample opportunities for photos at the Swilcan Bridge before they head off to do their own thing for a couple of hours. What better way to round off the first day of action than some free time in the Home of Golf?!

Not even the local Scottish teachers can resist a photo on that famous bridge alongside our American contingent...

We'll wind down the live text updates for this afternoon ahead of a big second round tomorrow. Its onto Fairmont St Andrews we go, with golfers starting off the Kittocks Course's 1st Hole in waves from 9am. It's our longest day of golf across the week, and it promises to be absolutely incredible once again as the WSG Golf 2026 Championship progresses and the leaderboards begin to take shape.
See you in the morning!
