Welcome to WSG Dance

The inaugural World Schools Dance Championships were held at The Shaw Theatre in London, England in June - with an international line-up of schools competing to be crowned the World Champions of School Dance.

WSG Dance affords young dancers the unique opportunity to showcase their talents while representing themselves, their school, and their country on an international stage.

Open to schools from all over the world, the event welcomes hundreds of students to London for four action-packed days of dance training and competition.

From industry-led West End workshops and the highly-anticipated WSG Grand Show, to our extensive media coverage and sightseeing opportunities, the event is truly one of a kind and is the ultimate dance experience for the stars of tomorrow.

The Shaw Theatre - located in the heart of London - features state-of-the-art facilities and serves as the perfect stage upon which our dancers can showcase their talents in a global competition.

Aside from the competition in our Grand Show, we also pride ourselves on offering dancers unforgettable experiences off the stage - such as a post-event documentary, training and workshops sessions with West End performers, the chance to take in a live West End performance, and opportunities to tour some of London’s most iconic sites.

How it works

WSG Dance is truly an event like no other, transcending geographies and welcoming some of the best young performers from schools across the globe to London for a week of high-level international competition.

The main event - the WSG Grand Show - takes place on Day Two of WSG Dance and incorporates Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Open (all other types) categories. Schools have the opportunity to enter a performance in up to four categories at each age group.

Schools are ranked in each category according to the judging criteria outlined, with medals awarded to the top three schools in each age group and the winners being crowned World Champions of School Dance.

As well as the Grand Show, schools will take part in a number of other activities during their stay in London - such as competition rehearsal time with professional feedback, West End dance workshops, and city sightseeing days. There will also be the optional opportunity for schools to attend a West End show.

The competition is open to students in U11 (Primary), U15 (Junior), and U19 (Senior) age categories, and schools must have a minimum of four and a maximum of 20 dancers to enter a performance. WSG Dance places allocated on a first come, first served basis and confirmed upon payment of your Team Registration Fee.
