The World School Swim Championships are held each May at the London Aquatics Centre, home of swimming at the London 2012 Olympic Games - allowing young athletes the chance to follow in the footsteps of their heroes.

WSG Swim presents a unique opportunity for the best young swimmers on the planet to showcase their talents while representing themselves, their school, and their country on the international stage.

The event welcomes hundreds of swimmers from schools across the globe to London for three days of colourful cultural celebration and intense sporting action and. The iconic LAC is the most technologically advanced swimming facility in the world, making it the perfect place to host the world’s premier school swimming competition.

Aside from the action, we also pride ourselves on offering athletes unforgettable experiences outside of the pool - such as professional event media coverage, training and masterclass sessions with Olympic swimmers, and optional excursions.

How it works

WSG Swim is a truly unique event, bringing together swimmers from a variety of backgrounds for three enthralling days of good-natured action at the London Aquatics Centre.

Hundreds of medals are up for grabs across a variety of individual disciplines over the weekend, as well as opportunities to compete as a school team in exciting relay races. WSG Swim stages races in both Long Course and Short Course lengths, making full use of the incredible Olympic pool on offer.

Unique to the WSG Event Series, swimmers will also have the opportunity to directly represent their country in the fan-favourite WSG Nations Cup. This exciting relay sees four selected swimmers from each country team up and battle it out in the pool to bring home the coveted cup.

WSG Swim is open to Boys and Girls in U11, U13, U15, and U19 age categories, with places allocated on a first come, first served basis and confirmed upon payment of your Team Registration Fee.

FAQs

Find answers to some of the most common questions about the World School Swim Championships below…

Registrations are limited by age group and country, interested schools should email [email protected] in the first instance.

Places are available on a first-come, first-served basis with places limited by country. Entry deadlines are typcially 1st November, but this is subject to availability.

Yes all participating schools are required to used Official Event Accommodation for all students and staff, with the exception of local London schools.

There is no limit to the number of students you can enter in each age group, but schools can only enter two male/female athletes per event.

If you're staying in event accommodation, check in is from 16:00 on your arrival day. Teams departing on the Sunday should not book flights from London airports any earlier than 19:30 or you may risk missing the final events and presentations.

Schools arriving with enough time to take part in an excursion can add: Thames Sightseeing Cruise, London Eye, Madame Tussauds and football stadium tours. Prices for each excursion are available upon request.

We work with a range of hotels within commuting distance of the London Aquatics Centre. Your allocated hotel will be confirmed around six weeks before the event, depending on rooming requirements and payments being made on time.

All packages are bed & breakfast only.

Westfield Shopping Centre is located a short walk from the London Aquatics Centre, and includes a range of supermarkets, cafes and restaurants for lunches and evening meals.

Events will take place from 17:30 - 19:00 on 7th May, and from 09:00 - 17:00 on 8th & 9th May 2027.

Students can enter up to four individual events.

Yes, younger swimmers can swim in an older age category if you wish them to. Please note students can only race in one age category.

Yes there are gold, silver and bronze medals for all events including relays.

Due to the international nature of the event, the World School Swim Championships are not licensed by Swim England.

There are trophies for the best placed girls/boys teams and overall squads at each age group. Points are awarded for all top ten finishes (excluding the skins) and the teams with the most points at the end of Day 2 will be presented with a trophy.

Yes, individuals can enter with permission from the Organising Committee with payment of the relevant entry fee.

No, there are no qualifying times for entry but we would encourage all schools to ensure students are entered into events they believe they can be competitive in.

Spectators can attend the event for a small fee. Ticketing information will be available in due course.

WSG will provide parents and spectators with accommodation options and packages, these will be available in due course.
