WSG Basketball returns to Valencia for fifth edition

There are just two days to go until the fifth edition of The World School Basketball Championships tip off as the 2025/26 World School Games Event Series continues!

The Championships will once again be held in Valencia, Spain, with over 350 young players across 34 teams set to battle it out to be crowned World Champions of School Basketball.

These teams will be split across four age categories – U16 Boys, U16 Girls, U19 Boys, and U19 Girls – and are made up from 24 schools spanning 14 different countries.

A true celebration of global cultures and sport, WSG Basketball 2025 promises to be bigger and better than ever before – providing budding young athletes the ultimate platform on which to unite, develop, and showcase their talents.

Our players will get the unique opportunity to compete on the world stage at L’Alqueria del Basket’s state-of-the-art facilities.

This iconic basketballing venue plays host to Valencia Basket’s men’s and women’s professional teams, with a total of 13 indoor and outdoor courts alongside the brand new 20,000-seater Roig Arena just next door.

The action gets underway on Friday as we welcome schools to L’Alqueria del Basket for the first time. Pre-event media duties, training sessions, and tours of the facilities will set everyone up nicely for the Opening Ceremony in the evening.

A chance for everyone to come together and look forward to the weekend ahead, the Ceremony will set the scene before the highly-anticipated WSG Basketball All-Star matches.

After proving to be a fan-favourite event last year, WSG Basketball All-Stars will return to pit Team Europe against Team Rest of the World in Boys, Girls, and Staff matches.

Then the real action tips off on Saturday morning as our teams take part in the WSG Basketball Group Stages. Each team will play a number of matches before they split off into a variety of knockout competitions on Sunday.

A number of Cups, Plates, and Bowls are up for grabs this weekend, as each school aims to write their name into WSG Basketball history.

We are delighted to confirm that all matches taking place on our Show Court will be exclusively streamed live on the WSG Event Series YouTube Channel!

With a multi-camera set-up and a professional commentary team, the WSG Basketball Live Stream will keep supporters right up-to-date as they follow on from afar.

Regular multimedia updates will be posted across the World School Games Event Series social media platforms on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X to keep spectators informed.

The official WSG Basketball Live Blog will also be publicised over the coming days, providing a blow-by-blow account of the competition right from the heart of the action.
