World Schools Golf Championship heads to St Andrews & Edinburgh

The 2025/26 World School Games Event Series gets underway this weekend as young players from across the globe prepare to descend on Scotland for three days of World Schools Golf Championship action!

In total, over 100 golfers from 23 schools in 16 countries spanning six continents will take part in the prestigious event which is returning for its second edition and encompasses some of the finest courses Scotland has to offer.

We are especially delighted this year to welcome competitors from new countries, such as Malaysia, Trinidad & Tobago, India, and Australia – adding a new international dimension to the Championship.

Additionally, it’s great to welcome back 16 local Scottish golfers from schools across the central belt and Aberdeenshire who are ready to showcase the best local talent on a global stage.

The 2025 edition of WSG Golf promises to be even bigger and better than last year with the addition of a day of play in St Andrews – one of the most famous golfing towns in the world.

Adding to two fantastic days of action in the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, this will allow our young players the unique opportunity to represent themselves, their school, and their country on the world stage and in the Home of Golf.

The Championship will be officially opened on Sunday evening with a Welcome Ceremony at the impressive Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh. Hosted by Adam Binnie, the ceremony will allow all of our players to come together, meet each other, and undertake their pre-event media duties before the action gets underway on Monday morning.

First up, it’s Royal Musselburgh Golf Club before the Championship moves on to The Musselburgh Golf Club on Tuesday. Then, on Wednesday, WSG Golf heads to Fairmont St Andrews for the very first time.

Days 1 and 2 will see the field split into a double shotgun start from 9am, while the players will be split across two courses – Kittocks Course and Torrance Course – on Day 3.

A number of prizes will be up for grabs at the Closing Ceremony following the conclusion of play in St Andrews. Male and Female Stroke Play winners will be crowned across Junior, Senior, and Teacher categories, as well as Stableford champions in all three categories and a special Overall Team Award.

The Team Award – currently held by ACS Cobham, England – will be decided by the cumulative Stableford score of four players from the same school.

WSG Golf Live Stream

We are pleased to announce details of our new and improved World Schools Golf Championship Live Stream offering for 2025!

Utilising state-of-the-art technology, the WSG Golf live stream will allow friends and family to keep up with every stroke whilst cheering on our players from afar. Each day will have a ‘Featured Hole’ (two on Wednesday; one on each course) with professional commentator Ian Waterhouse on hand to talk audiences through the action.

Ian will be right in and amongst the players, bringing you exclusive insight and reaction as each group makes their way round the course.

A new addition for 2025, the WSG Golf Shot Tracer will further enhance the viewing experience – allowing spectators to follow each and every ball from the tee to the green, and everywhere in between.

An additional camera will also be roaming around the courses with our live reporter, bringing you lots of extra content and exclusive mid-round player interviews. So, if you’re a participant and see the WSG Golf cameras during your round, don’t be afraid to say hello!
