Inaugural World Schools Dance Championship set for London

The first ever World Schools Dance Championship is fast approaching this weekend, as the WSG Event Series enters an exciting new era!

A number of schools from across the globe - including as far as India and the UAE - will descend on London, UK for a truly unique event blending competitive performance on the international stage with professional-led workshops and West End Shows.

Hosted at the impressive Shaw Theatre in the heart of the city, the WSG Grand Show will take place on Saturday with our performers able to experience the feeling of performing in state-of-the-art facilities and in front of a global audience.

The theatre - which has been a celebrated venue for dance, musical theatre, and live concerts since 1971 - has seating space for over 400 spectators, allowing friends and family the opportunity to support their young performers.

Schools will compete across Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Open categories in both Junior and Senior age groups, with winners crowned per category per age group. We'll also crown our Overall World Champions of School Dance to the top-performing school across all the whole event.

Ahead of the Grand Show, dancers and spectators alike will be treated to two very special guest performances - keep your eyes on our social media channels to find out who's involved!

Before we get to the main event on Saturday, though, our schools will have the opportunity to rehearse and for a final tune-up in practice sessions at Danceworks London on Friday afternoon.

Schools will also have the opportunity to make the most of their time in the iconic, performance-obsessed city of London by touring the West End, taking in capital's stunning landmarks, and even attending a live show.

We are pleased to announce details of the WSG Dance 2026 live stream, allowing friends and family to follow the action from afar.

Every single WSG Grand Show performance will be available to watch live and free-of-charge with multiple camera angles, our WSG Host, and live judges feedback as our dancers experience the thrill of competing on the global stage.

We're also pleased to confirm that the WSG Media Team will be on hand across the weekend, capturing the best of the action and speaking to performers for an extended WSG Dance 2026 documentary set to be released post-event. More details will be released in due course.
