The 2026/27 World School Games Event Series continues this weekend as 1100 young players from across the globe descend on Barcelona for three days of World Schools Football Cup action!

A total of 86 teams from 39 schools representing 18 countries will compete at the prestigious tournament, which returns for its seventh edition between 9–11 October.

This year's event will also see BIS Sulaymaniyah make history as the first school from Iraq to participate in a WSG event - an exciting moment for the Series!

The tournament will once again be staged at the world-class Mediterranean Sports Hub, where boys' and girls' teams will battle it out across six age categories to be crowned World Champions of School Football.

U11, U13, U15, and U18 Boys will be joined by U13 and U16 Girls, with matches contested across both 7-a-side and 11-a-side formats.

Before the football gets underway, all participating schools will come together at Cambrils Park Resort on Thursday evening for the traditional Parade of Nations, followed by the official WSG Football Opening Ceremony.

Attention then turns to the pitch on Friday morning for the opening group stage fixtures, with another action-packed day of competition to follow on Saturday.

Teams will then progress into tiered knockout competitions, ensuring everyone has something to play for as Sunday's Finals Day approaches.

The tournament will conclude with the all-important knockout matches and Finals Day Awards Presentation, as our winning teams are crowned World Schools Football Cup Champions for 2026!

WSG World Series heads to Barcelona

This year's World Schools Football Cup will also mark the second event in the inaugural WSG World Series, our brand-new year-round ranking system that rewards schools for their participation and performances across the Series.

Following WSG Golf in Scotland last month, the first-ever World Series standings are now live, with nine schools already on the leaderboard.

There are plenty more points up for grabs as the race to become the inaugural World Champions of School Sport gathers momentum.
