The World Schools Football Cup returned to Barcelona last weekend for its seventh edition, bringing together 1100 young players from across the globe for three days of international action!
A total of 86 teams from 39 schools representing 18 countries descended on the Mediterranean Sports Hub, competing across six age categories for the chance to be crowned World Champions of School Football.
The tournament also marked the second event in the inaugural WSG World Series, with schools competing to earn valuable points towards the new year-round championship.
The weekend officially began on Thursday evening at Cambrils Park Resort, where all participating schools came together for the traditional Parade of Nations and WSG Football Opening Ceremony.
Led by the drumbeat of Bombastik Percusion, athletes proudly represented their countries in a colourful celebration of cultures, before we welcomed our team captains onto the stage.
The evening also featured a very special performance from football freestyler Jose Ferreras, setting the scene for the three days of action to follow.
Friday morning saw the football get underway at Mediterranean Sports Hub, as teams began their group stage campaigns across U11, U13, U15, and U18 Boys, and U13 and U16 Girls competitions.
With schools travelling from across the world - including new countries such as Iraq - the tournament once again provided a fantastic opportunity for young players to test themselves against international opposition and experience different cultures.
The action continued throughout Saturday, with group stage results determining each team's pathway into Sunday's tiered knockout competitions.
Meanwhile, friends, families, and supporters across the globe were able to follow the action through our YouTube live streams, bringing the excitement of WSG Football to audiences across the globe.
Everything then came down to Sunday's Finals Day, as teams battled it out for silverware across various knockout competitions.
Six entertaining Cup Finals provided a fitting conclusion to the tournament, with our 2026 World Schools Football Cup Champions crowned following three days of competition.
With valuable WSG World Series points also earned across the weekend, the race to become the inaugural World Champions of School Sport continues to take shape as the 2026/27 Event Series progresses.
