The World School Games is excited to unveil a new flagship championship standings and world ranking system ahead of the 2026/27 Event Series kicking off in Scotland next week!
The WSG World Series will run from September to June each academic year, beginning with WSG Golf and ending following WSG Netball.
The Series-wide ranking system will act as an overall championship table, with schools rewarded for their incredible achievements across a range of sports throughout the year as they aim to be crowned the true World Champions of School Sport.
WSG World Series points will be allocated to schools based on event performance across all age groups and genders.
Rankings will be updated following the conclusion of each WSG event, with the standings available to track on our new website as the academic year unfolds.
We'll also have regular World Series updates across our social media platforms as we continue our commitment to celebrating the wonderful achievements of our athletes
The school sitting at the summit of the table following the World Schools Netball Cup in June 2027 will then be crowned WSG World Series Champions.
The WSG team will arrange a very special visit to present the engraved trophy and conduct photoshoots with our triumphant school.
The WSG World Series is open to each and every school that takes part in one of our events, with schools rewarded for their achievements in different sports as they battle it out to be crowned champions.
Brand new for 2026/27, the WSG World Series launches alongside its very own bespoke trophy and travelling case.
The stunning golden prize beautifully represents the incredible achievements of the schools lucky enough to get their hands on it.
The golden globe signifies international excellence and triumph, sitting as the ultimate peak supported by an upward spiral - mirroring the journey of dedication and achievement shown by our athletes throughout the year.
On the announcement of the WSG World Series, Head of World School Games, Daniel Shields, said:
"We are delighted to launch the WSG World Series ahead of the first event of the 2026/27 academic year taking place in Scotland next week.
"With so many schools now participating in events throughout the Series, we are excited to reward students and staff for their consistent performances across a range of sports, and for their positive attitude towards the World School Games Event Series.
"Continuing our commitment of amplifying school sport across the globe, the WSG World Series aims to provide a focal point for our schools as we look ahead to nine events over the next 12 months."
