World Schools Golf Championship returns to the Home of Golf

The 2026/27 World School Games Event Series gets underway next week as young players from across the globe prepare to descend on Scotland for three days of World Schools Golf Championship action!

In total, 85 golfers from 23 schools, representing 17 nationalities across four continents, will take part in the prestigious event, which returns for its third edition and once again encompasses some of the finest courses Scotland has to offer.

We are especially delighted this year to welcome competitors from the USA and Cayman Islands - the first-ever representatives from either nation to take part in a WSG event.

The 2026 edition of WSG Golf will take players across three different courses over three days, beginning at Ladybank Golf Club before moving to Fairmont St Andrews for rounds on the Kittocks Course and Torrance Course.

It will allow our young players the unique opportunity to represent themselves, their school, and their country on the world stage in and around St Andrews - the Home of Golf.

The Championship will be officially opened on Sunday evening with a Welcome Ceremony at the Apex Hotel in Dundee.

Hosted once again by Adam Binnie, the evening will allow all of our players to come together, meet each other, and undertake their pre-event media duties before enjoying dinner and a range of activities ahead of the action getting underway on Monday morning.

First up, it’s Ladybank Golf Club, where the full field will begin the Championship with a shotgun start at 9am.

The Championship then moves on to Fairmont St Andrews’ Kittocks Course on Tuesday, before wrapping up for the decisive final round on the Torrance Course on Wednesday.

A number of prizes will be up for grabs at the Awards Ceremony. Male and Female Stroke Play winners will be crowned across the Junior, Senior, and Teacher categories, alongside Stableford champions across all three categories and a special Overall Team Award.

Across the three rounds, players will therefore be competing not only for individual honours, but also contributing towards their school’s challenge for the Overall Team Championship.

And one thing is already guaranteed ahead of the opening round - a new World Schools Golf Championship Team Champion will be crowned in 2026.

The WSG World Series begins here

This year’s World Schools Golf Championship will also make history as the first event to count towards the brand-new WSG World Series.

Launched ahead of the 2026/27 season, the WSG World Series is a new year-round championship which will see schools earn points based on their performances across World School Games events throughout the academic year.

Rankings will be updated following each event as schools from around the world compete to climb the overall championship table.

That means our golfers will have the honour of becoming the very first athletes to earn WSG World Series points, with the inaugural standings taking shape following the conclusion of Wednesday’s final round.

The World Schools Golf Championship live stream will return for 2026, allowing friends, family, schools, and supporters around the world to follow the action from Scotland.

Featured hole coverage will put viewers right at the heart of the Championship, with multiple cameras, professional commentary, and the return of WSG Golf shot tracer technology.

An additional camera and our roaming presenter will also make their way around the courses, bringing viewers lots of extra content, reaction, and exclusive mid-round player interviews from across all three days.
